LONDON -- Firefighters were forced to use miniature pet oxygen masks to treat two puppies rescued from a burning barn in Devon, UK, on Monday. In a post on Facebook, Newton Abbot Fire Station shared photos of the dogs being treated with gel and oxygen after rescue services arrived at the scene in the early afternoon. There were five puppies in the barn when the fire took hold. Three died at the scene. The two dogs pictured in the photos above were treated by firefighters and then taken to the vets. Sadly, a spokesperson from Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service confirmed to Mashablethat one of the rescued puppies has since died. "They weren't bad burns but was in a wide area and was just too much for such a little puppy," the owner of the farm, James Barter, was quoted as saying in the Torquay Herald Express. "I think of myself as fairly tough but I was pretty upset." He went on to say that the surviving puppy seems to be doing fine. "We have named it Blaze in honour of its miraculous survival," he said. Here are some pictures taken by firefighters at the scene.
