Misty and Brock don't make an appearance in the upcoming film Pokémon the Movie 20: I Choose You!, which celebrates the Pokémonseries' 20th anniversary with a condensed remake of the first 80 episodes of the Pokémonanime, according to Alex Aniel who saw the film at an early Japan Expo screening.

Both Misty and Brock were mainstays of the series with Misty appearing in the very first episode and Brock appearing in the fifth. Misty and Brock became close companions and friends to the main character Ash Ketchum as he journeyed through the Kanto region and beyond. They both appeared in dozens of episodes and multiple movies throughout the years.

Misty and Brock's lack of appearance in a remake of the original Pokémon TV run is as bad as if Patrick and Squidward weren't in a remake of Spongebob Squarepants, or if Battle-Cat and Teela weren't in a remake of He-Man. Basically: an affront to humankind.

Despite that, Misty and Brock don't even get to make a cameo appearance in Pokémon the Movie 20 --not even as leaders of the gyms they led in the original anime.

They've been replaced by two new characters who act as companions to Ash and can be seen briefly in the trailer for the movie.

Other key characters from the Pokémon series were given cameos or appearances in the new movie, including Professor Oak, Gary, Jessie, James, and their talking Meowth.

At least Misty and Brock were mentioned in the credits of the movie, according to Aniel. The two deserve better than that, though.
