2015 gave us the despised yet useful selfie stick. 2016 however, has brought us the virtual reality selfie stick.

During Facebook's F8 Developer conference on Wednesday, CTO Mike Schroepfer showed off a virtual reality selfie stick, because why travel somewhere to look like a tourist when you can do it from the comforts of your own home?

The selfie stick debuted in Facebook's Social VR, a demonstration on interacting with someone in virtual reality, instead of having real human contact. So soon, you'll be able to strap an attractive Oculus Rift headset to your dome, grab your friends and go for a nice day trip to London, while still sitting in your home.

YOU'LL NEVER LEAVE YOUR HOME AGAIN.

Tech nerds, selfie lovers and travel haters obviously went nuts.

So if you didn't feel like your Instagram and Facebook feeds were already dominated by selfies, just wait for the comically bad VR selfies. They're coming. Oh, they're coming.

Now, clearly the tech community is into it, but we'll see how the rest of the world handles this disconnected and ever embarrassing reality.
