Serena Williams isn't playing in the U.S. Open this year, but she's still making headlines -- albeit for a very different reason than winning a match. The tennis legend and her fiancé, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, welcomed their first child into the world on Friday, according to reports. Chris Shepherd, a senior producer at West Palm Beach's WPBF first broke the news on Twitter, saying that Williams had given birth to a baby girl weighing 6 pounds and 13 ounces. Additionally, Laura Wagner of Deadspintweeted that before her match at the U.S. Open, Venus Williams confirmed her sister had given birth to a baby girl. As reported by CBS Miami, Williams went into labor on Friday at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm beach. Beyoncé even took to Instagram to congratulate her friend on the birth. And yes, everyone is making the same joke about Williams going into labor right as Labor Day weekend kicks off (with a few about the U.S. Open in there, too). Congrats to the happy family!
